The aim of this is to get people editing wikis that they may not normally be involved with. Also because the day will be well organised we can accomplish tasks that may not normally get done.

Typically the types of tasks that we do are those that are just maintenance e.g. labelling stub articles, uncategorised articles. It can also be a handy time to work on a major change to the wiki as it can be done quickly.

Just remember that some things are outside of our control. We can not promise to completely fix things, but hopefully we can at least give you a leg up on them.

How this works Edit

We have a fixed schedule for these events so we will get in contact with the wiki beforehand to sort out the details. At this stage you can also suggest other things you might want done.

Page redesign

The way we recommend doing this is to make the new page on a seperate page. This way if we end up changing a lot of pages The host community still gets the final say on whether the changes get used.

Inviting us Edit

We love it when wikis invite us to come see them. The easier it is for us, the more likely we are to set up a barnraising day on your wiki. This can be done by discussing the concept with the rest of your wiki. It's good if your wiki elects a spokeserson so that we can direct our questions to them. It's also an idea to have activities that are fun, It doesn't all have to be serious.

Proposals Edit

To invite us / others / sign up yourself - just add your four tildes {~}, and if nec alternative dates

Pledgebank template Edit

To help encourage people to 'sign up' you can set up a Pledgebank section on your wiki's own barnraising page.

What day suits you best? Edit

what day would suit you best for a barnraising?

The poll was created at 21:29 on July 25, 2008, and so far 2 people voted.

Task Ideas Edit

  • Goals - If you state a goal in public you're more likely to do it and you might get help too.
  • Competition/Challenges - You could challenge other members of your wiki to complete particular goals.
  • Page redesign - This is a competition where you can either help the design you like best or you can fork it and make it better
